Weekly Update - 25th October 2017
Labour Weekend provided some amazing sightings for our guests this year! Humpback Whales were sighted getting slap happy, with one guy slapping his tail an uncountable number of times. He must have been just as happy to see us as our passengers were to see him! He also had a pod of Dusky Dolphins in tow who were doing leaps and flips around him, what a sight to be out on the water to see!
Whale Watching in September 2017
September is a beautiful time of the year to visit Kaikōura. With the Spring blossoms, long days (courtesy of daylight savings) and the warm weather rolling in for Summer, it’s the perfect time to stop by before all the tourists turn up over the New Year. If you’re visiting Kaikōura with whale watching in mind, then we’ve also had some great sightings!

Kaikōura is a small, picturesque coastal town located on the East Coast of New Zealand’s South Island. The landscapes and seascapes which surround the town create some serious Instagram #FeedGoals. Throw in a few whales and dolphins into the mix and your travel snaps will be the envy of all your friends back home.

Kaikōura truly is a marine mecca. This week we’ve had some successful days out on the water, sighting Beaked Whales, Humpback Whales as well as the Mighty Sperm Whale!
Weekly Update - 28th August 2017
This week’s weather has been absolutely spectacular! We’ve had some amazing calm days out on the ocean and clear blue skies to match it. Our tours were able to sight semi-residential Sperm Whale Aoraki feeding in the Hikurangi Trench this week, as well as multiple other transient Sperm Whales passing through our region. On Thursday we had four Orca pay us a visit early!

Even though we’re still in the last month of Winter, it’s starting to feel more and more like Spring! It was a cracker weekend here in Kaikōura with amazing sea conditions and picture perfect days to go along with it.

The sun has been making more and more of an appearance this week allowing for some brilliant touring conditions with clear skies and calm waters. The weather also performed well over the weekend for the annual 48 Hours in Kaikoura photography condition. We can’t wait to see all the amazing images of Kaikōura that the contestants have produced!
Whale Watch Kaikoura Weekly Update - 22 May 2017
We had it all over the weekend – sunshine, wild wind, sleet, warmth, cold and beautiful new snow on the Kaikoura ranges. Despite the conditions over the weekend in the days leading up we had some great tours with sightings of semi-resident sperm whales Manu and Tiaki and hen time allowed we also saw dusky dolphins, Hector’s dolphins, NZ fur seals and marine birds.
WWK Weekly Update - 27th February 2017
We have had a wonderful week weather and sightings wise in Kaikōura. We were fortunate to have sightings of a humpback whale for a couple of days along with a blue whale which is always very special to see. Along with the amazing whale sightings, we also had the opportunity to see common, dusky & Hectors dolphins, NZ Fur Seals and marine birds. Kaikōura is a very unique and fascinating place, well worth taking the time to visit.
